Privacy Notice

1. Who we are

This site is operated by Daniel Ernest Consulting Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, trading as Practice Makes The Master. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact us at hello@practicemakesthemaster.com with any privacy question or request.

2. What we collect and why

• Email address — to send you the newsletter, the free introduction verification code, waitlist and launch notifications, and the scheduled quest-unlock emails for the course. Legal basis: consent for marketing, performance of a contract for course emails.
• Name, where you give it — to address emails to you. Legal basis: consent.
• Verification codes and course access records — the quests you have unlocked and when you enrolled, so we can give you access at the right time. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
• Support messages — anything you email us, so we can reply. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
• Usage data — pages viewed, audio plays, pauses and completion milestones, referring site, approximate location, device and browser type, and IP address. Used to understand what content is useful and to keep the site working. Legal basis: legitimate interests, and consent where cookies require it.
• Security data — IP address and request counts, used to rate-limit forms and prevent abuse or fraud. Legal basis: legitimate interests.

We do not see or store your card details. Payment information is collected and processed by Paddle as Merchant of Record.

3. Who we share data with

• Paddle — our Merchant of Record, for the sale of the course, payments, invoicing, subscription management and tax compliance.
• Service providers — hosting and database providers, our email delivery provider (Resend), our podcast host, and analytics providers (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel), acting on our instructions.
• Professional advisers — accountants or legal advisers where needed.
• Authorities — where we are required to disclose by law.

We do not sell your personal data.

4. International transfers

Some of our providers are located outside the UK and EEA, mainly in the United States. Where data is transferred, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK and EU Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.

5. How long we keep it

Email subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe, and removed shortly afterwards. Course access records are kept while you have access and for up to seven years afterwards where needed for tax and accounting records. Verification codes expire within minutes and are deleted. Analytics data is retained according to the provider's standard retention period (up to 14 months). Data no longer needed is deleted or anonymised.

6. Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you have the right to access your data, have it corrected or erased, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, and withdraw consent at any time. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. Email hello@practicemakesthemaster.com to exercise any right — we respond within one month.

You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local supervisory authority.

7. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls and row-level security on our database, private storage for the course audio with short-lived access links, and hashed storage of verification codes.

8. Cookies and similar technologies

We use essential cookies and local storage to make the site work — for example to remember that you've verified your email or which segments you've completed.

We also use analytics and marketing cookies (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel) to measure how the site is used and the effectiveness of our promotion. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and use your browser's tracking protection, at any time; essential functions may be affected.

9. Children

This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

10. Changes

We may update this notice. The current version is always on this page with the date it was last updated.
